Donetsk, Nov 15 – DAN. Ukrainian forces reinforced their positions outside Donetsk with howitzers, anti-tank guns and multiple launch rocket systems “Grad,” Donetsk People’s Republic People’s Militia spokesman Daniil Bezsonov said on Thursday citing intelligence reports.

“Our intelligence recorded the arrival of heavy artillery weapons of 57th Motorised Infantry Brigade in the Kalinovo area (17 kilometres northwest of Donetsk),” Bezsonov said.

Ukraine has camouflaged 18 howitzers, 152mm, 12 MT-12 guns, 100mm, and six MLRS “Grad” in farm hangars in the western outskirts of the settlement, he said.

The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements signed by the Contact Group on February 12, 2015 creates a 50-kilometre security zone for 100mm or larger calibre artillery systems, a security zone of 70 km wide for MLRS and 140 km wide for MLRS “Tornado”, Uragan, Smerch and Tactical Missile Systems Tochka. The September addendum commits the parties to withdrawing artillery pieces of calibre less than 100mm, tanks and mortars.*jk
