Ukrainian forces intensify shelling, violate ceasefire 1,076 times over past 24 hours – DPR Command

Donetsk, Jan 16 – DAN. Ukrainian forces shelled DPR frontline areas 1,076 times over the past 24 hours, DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Thursday.

“Ukrainian criminal forces violated the ceasefire 1,076 times over the past 24 hours, firing 106 artillery rounds of 152mm and 122mm, 326 120mm and 82mm mortar rounds and 612 grenade launcher rounds. They also used infantry fighting vehicle cannon and small arms,” Basurin said.

Staromikhailovka, Aleksandrovka and Trudovskiye villages west of Donetsk, Zaitsevo, Ozeryanovka, Mikhailovka, Folmovskiy, Shirokaya Balka and Zheleznaya Balka outside Gorlovka, Krutaya Balka outside Yasinovataya, Spartak and Zhabitchevo of Donetsk, Oktyabr, kominternovo and Sakhanka in DPR south were heavily shelled.

DPR intelligence revealed the location of nearly 30 MLRS Grad and Uragan in Volnovakha area. Three Gvozdika 122mm self-propelled howitzers, eight attack helicopters MI-8, five tanks and 200 troops were spotted in the same location. Six 120mm mortars were located in Bogdanovka (4km from the contact line).

“The banned weapons were deployed in the area of responsibility of 92nd brigade of Ukrainian armed forces,” Basurin added.

A ceasefire was agreed by the Contact Group at its meeting on December 21st, in effect from midnight December 24th Kiev time – 1 a.m. December 24th DPR time, but Ukrainian forces continue to shell DPR territory.*ot
