Donetsk, Jan 22 – DAN. Intensified Ukrainian attacks testify to a new round of escalation at the contact line in Donbass, head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) Ruslan Yakubov said on Friday.

According to the JCCC reports, service members of the 36th separate marine brigade shelled Zaichenko, Oktyabr, Bezymennoye, Sakhanka for two hours yesterday using 82 mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms.

One DPR service member was killed, another injured.

“The situation becomes critical, the clear tendency confirms Kiev’s intention to escalate the situation anew. We demand that Kiev stops armed provocations, investigates the incidents and punishes the perpetrators,” Yakubov said.

The DPR Mission to the JCCC has asked the OSCE SMM to respond to the escalation.

The Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire were signed at the Contact Group meeting on July 22 to reinforce and control the indefinite ceasefire in effect since July 21, 2019, the latest in the series of more than 20 reconfirmation and announcements of the “silence regime”. The package came into effect on July 27. *ot
