Zakharchenko: DPR sets course for strengthening independence and convergence with Russia

Donetsk, May 7 – DAN. The DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko has announced that the Republic sets sail for strengthening ties with Russia up to establishing a united political, military, economic and cultural space.

“We are setting course towards strengthening our independence and convergence with brotherly Russia. We have defended with arms our right for independence and freedom.”
He said that Ukraine is plotting to isolate Donbass from the entire world, but the region’s future lies with Russia.

“We shall join in a unity of political, military, economic and cultural space. We are determined to take a path of future with Russia.”

The DPR Donetsk Republic social movement has endorsed a draft development project Donbass Power, which is to become the basis for the Republic’s leader election campaign. The document was approved at the social movement meeting in the Donetsk Musical and Drama Theatre, where 520 delegates were present including the DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko.

Overall, 400 thousand people have participated in discussions of the program in the course of nearly 5,000 meetings, bringing forward about 4,000 propositions.

At the Donetsk Republic’s March 1 conference its chairman DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko called for drawing a long-term DPR development strategy and its broad public discussion. The project was named the Power of Donbass. The Donetsk News Agency website hosts Donetsk Republic’s polls to gather residents’ recommendations concerning the program. *ot
