Donetsk, May 1 – DAN. DPR authorities prepared a large entertainment programme for residents of the Republic and Kiev-controlled areas of Donbass on the occasion of May 1, Spring and Labour Day. The key events will run in the Republic’s capital Donetsk.
Celebrations will begin with the public march along Artyom Street, the city thoroughfare. The organisers told the Donetsk News Agency that thousands of people will walk from the Krupskaya Library to Lenin Square where a rally would take place. After the public gathering, an award-giving ceremony for Donbass activists will be held in the Trade Unions House.
Simultaneously, city culture centres will stage performances, theme shows and contests and run entertainment programmes and exhibitions.
Trips on two vintage trams are a traditional gift to city residents and guests. The vehicles will shuttle between the Metallurgical Plant to the Railway Station, the city oldest route. Sixteen trips are planned overall. The children’s railway in the Lenin Komsomol Park will resume operation after the cold spell break.
Donetsk’s main Scherbakov Park will launch the new season on May 1 with the opening of amusements, the boat station and the Evening Rhymes dance floor. The park will host an exhibition of decorative and applied arts. The festivities will end in a show featuring Russian groups Gorod 312 and KVATRO and singer Elvira Tugusheva (Elvira T). Parks will also open in the city’s Kievskiy, Kaliniskiy and Petrovskiy districts.
The Donetsk People’s Republic Industry and Trade Ministry said the Donetsk metropolitan area would host domestic producers’ fairs. They will be held in Donetsk’s frontline Kuibyshevskiy district, Makeyevka’s Sovetskiy district (Gavrilova Street) and Yasinovataya (Nekrasova Street in front of the Fairy-Tale shop).
Under DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko’s degree, May 1 known as International Workers’ Day is officially celebrated in the Republic as Spring and Labour Day.
