Donetsk, Oct 2 – DAN. More than 370 thousand voters cast their ballots in the DPR primaries, the supporters of Donetsk Republic social movement won majority, the Interim Vote Commission (IVC) says.

"The IVC has completed the vote count, the final turnout figure stands at 370,517 voters," said the IVC chair Andrey Korzhevskiy.

The tally shows that the members of Donetsk Republic social movement won candidacies for 505 seats in town and local councils, Free Donbass social movement representatives took 9 seats designations. The IVC noted that all candidates were self-nominees despite their affiliation with social movements.

In Donetsk mayoral primary people voted overwhelmingly in favour of a current mayor and a Donetsk Republic member Igor Martynov, who won 83.2 percent of ballots cast.

The runner-up is Aleksey Kulemzin supported by 5.4 percent of those eligible.

The other three candidates - Artem Serdyukov, Sergey Molgun and Ivan Yovik - got 4.7, 3.1 and 2.6 percent, respectively.

The first round of the DPR primaries took place in Donetsk and its suburbs on October, 2. The primaries, that are preliminary in nature, were aimed solely at exploring public opinion before anticipated local elections in Donbass and were in compliance with the Minsk Agreements. The vote was organized in line with OSCE standards. Official representatives of the candidates alongside international observers were free to monitor the primaries.
