Tortures used on 95 pc of detainees liberated from Ukraine since February 2015

Donetsk, May 4 – DAN. Up to ninety-five percent of LPR and DPR detainees liberated from Ukrainian captivity have been tortured, said DPR envoy to the negotiations Denis Pushilin’s press secretary Viktoria Talakina.

“Special attention should be paid to the living conditions of detainees in Ukraine. Tortures have been used on ninety-five present of them,” Talakina said speaking about detainees liberated from captivity under the Minsk Agreements signed on February 12, 2015.

The majority of those freed needed medical attention, as they had injuries of various degrees sustained as the result of violence used in penitentiaries: bone fractures, stab wounds and gunshot wounds of lower limbs, damage to internal organs.

On 27 December 2017, DPR, LPR and Ukraine held one of the largest prisoner exchange during the Donbass conflict. It took place at the crossing point in Gorlovka area; Ukraine handed over 160 people to Donetsk, and DPR passed 57 people to Kiev. *ot
