Donetsk, Jul 11 – DAN. The words of the U.S. special representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker on Ukraine’s “right to shoot” in Donbass are compromising Kiev’s ability to effectively work on a peaceful solution to the crisis, said the head of the DPR Armed Forces press service Daniil Bezsonov.

“Yesterday, the U.S. special representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker made a resounding statement on Ukraine’s “right” to open fire in its own territory. This statement by the US make us doubt Ukraine’s willingness to conform to the agreements made in Minsk and gives free rein to war criminals.”

The DPR operations Command reported no cease of fire during the previous day, saying the most intense fire was opened on populated areas.

On July 10, Volker, speaking to Bild newspaper, acknowledged that Kiev forces in Donbass “are also shooting”. He then said that one “should keep in mind that all this is happening on the territory of Ukraine. It is absolutely normal for a country to have its soldiers”. *ot
